04 December 2023 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) conducted its 12th Virtual Flag Raising Ceremony via Zoom Meeting.
The ceremony was an opportunity to welcome newly appointed Bureau Directors, Dir. Josefina S. Rodriguez-Agusti for the Administrative Services (AS); Dir. Catherine B. Gayagay-Apaling for the Office on Empowerment and Human Rights (OEHR); and Dir. Arthur K. Herman for the Ancestral Domains Office (ADO). During the event former AS Director Hazel Marjorie H. Lucas also received a Certificate of Appreciation from Exec. Dir. Mervyn H. Espadero and NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las as recognition of her exemplary service for almost 39 years in the agency.
To conclude the activity, Chairperson Sibug-Las underscored in her message the importance of selfless service for government employees. She emphasized this through the acronym S.H.A.R.E, which means Significance, Humility, Acceptance, Responsibility, and Encouragement. Such values, she added, should be incorporated in responding to the needs of all Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples’ (ICCs/IPs). Further, the Chairperson reiterated that the NCIP is the champion of the rights and welfare of ICCs/IPs.
