3rd Quarter 2023 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
In a collective effort to enhance Disaster Preparedness, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Region 3, through the Office of Civil Defense Region 3 (OCD3), took part in the conduct of the 3rd Quarter CY 2023 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at NEDA Region 3 Conference Room, Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga, and simultaneously through an online platform, today, 07 September 2023.
The RDRRMC3 Chairperson together with the four Vice Chairpersons of each Thematic Area led the Ceremonial Pressing of the Button that signals the start of the NSED. All participants demonstrated their ability to swiftly react to an earthquake scenario by following the well-established protocol of “Duck, Cover, and Hold” after the One-Minute Alarm. Following this, they efficiently evacuated to the nearest designated Evacuation Area of NEDA Region 3.
Also, the event held a significant moment as the Central Luzon Regional DRRM Council welcomed the newly appointed OCD3 Regional Director and Chairperson of RDRRMC 3, Atty. Anna Patricia S. Pineda.
Atty. Pineda, in her address, expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the importance of unwavering support to the various Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) initiatives of Central Luzon.
This crucial exercise was not limited to the RDRRMC and OCD, the Local DRRM Offices and various stakeholders across Central Luzon enthusiastically participated in their respective offices and areas of responsibility, exemplifying the region’s unity and determination in preparing for potential disasters.
The NSED serves as a timely reminder of the significance of Disaster Preparedness in all areas prone to various natural hazards. The #BidaAngHanda echoes the commitment of Central Luzon to always be ready and resilient in the face of any adversity.
This collaborative effort between government agencies, local offices, and the public underscores the proactive approach that Central Luzon is taking towards Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
