AGTA/AGTA-TABANGNON ICCs/IPs ABACA FARMING LIVELIHOOD GETS SUPPORT FROM CHOOKS-TO-GO AND BOUNTY FRESH
May 29, 2023 | The Indigenous Cultural Communities / Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) of Buhi, Camarines Sur and Tiwi, Albay gathered at Maguindara Resort, Buhi, Camarines Sur for the turnover of the Abaca Stripping Machines donated by Chooks-to-Go and Bounty Fresh.
The ICC/IP leaders and representatives warmly welcomed the party of Bounty Fresh and Chooks-to-Go led by its Senior Vice President, Dr. Erasmus J. Paderes. Through the strong partnership and relentless coordination of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples with the donors, 9th Infantry “Spear” Division of the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force and the LGUs of Buhi, Camarines Sur and Tiwi, Albay and various stakeholders, a smooth turnover ceremony was made possible.
The machines were transported to Buhi, Camarines Sur from Zamboanga with the help of the Philippine Air Force and the 9ID of the Philippine Army under the helm of Commanding General, MGen. Adonis R. Bajao who also graced the event with his lovely wife, Mrs. Carolina Bajao.
Mr. Vidal Yaguel, the Barangay Secretary of Iraya, Buhi gave a welcome message on behalf of Barangay Captain Rommel Aquino. Hon. Rey P. Lacoste, the Municipal Mayor of Buhi, was also present to show his support to the community and to personally express his appreciation to Chooks-to-Go and Bounty Fresh for the donation for his IP constituents.
The NCIP officials and staff showed great support of the activity led by Chairperson Allen A. Capuyan who joined virtually. Present in the event were Atty. Rhodex P. Valenciano, the Ethnographic Commissioner for Region III and the Rest of Luzon, Ms. Glenda Alcantara Pua, the Acting Bureau Director of OSESSC, Dir. Agosto B. Maglunsod, Regional Director of NCIP-V, Ms. Asuncion Rellon, TMSD of NCIP-V, and Ms. Maribel G. Dato, DMO II of OSESSC.
The activity highlighted the importance of the “Whole-of-Nation-Approach” that emphasizes the necessity of working together to be able to achieve a unified, progressive, and developed community and nation – that we must extend a helping hand and that we must utilize the help extended to us. During the activity, the donors expressed their intention of helping the Indigenous Peoples and assured that this activity is only the first of many.
