
DSWD, NCIP Re-established Social Partnership for IPs through Project EPANAW
SAN FERNANDO CITY—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 3 received its first copy of the Project Epanaw Coffee Table Books (CTB) 1, 2, and 3 on April 8, 2021. The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region 3 Director Atty. Roland P. Calde personally handed over the CTBs to DSWD FO 3 Regional Director Marites M. Maristela at her office in Diosdado Macapagal Government Center. Director Maristela highly appreciates the CTBs and said that CTBs are great representation of IP culture, community, and traditions. The DSWD pledge to support the promotion of CTBs in launching activities of Project Epanaw. Highlights of the meeting are the following:
1. Addressing grievances for listing of IPs in DSWD’s Listahanan 3 through inclusive approach;
2. Cooperation and assistance in providing translated IEC materials for the vaccination program for IPs; and
3. Continuous blended approach in addressing Family Development Sessions (FDS) and Electronic – FDS to Pantawid MCCT IP beneficiaries.
Also, during the turn-over and courtesy visit, Director Maristela strongly affirms for social protection and promotion of all vulnerable sectors specially the IPs. DSWD will be working together with the NCIP to protect and promote the welfare of the Indigenous Peoples.
