The NCIP Chairperson Allen A. Capuyan, during the Commission En Banc Session had an engagement meeting with the IFAD Regional Director via Zoom Virtual Platform.
The activity was participated by Ms. Reehana Raza, Regional Director of the Asia and Pacific Region, Mr. Umit Mansiz, Country Director for Philippines. Ms. Ma. Genesis Catindig-Reyes, Country Programme Officer-Philippines, Mr. Yolando Arban, Special Adviser, Country Office-Philippines, NCIP Commissioners and Directors.
The meeting was conducted for IFAD and NCIP to understand their priorities in rural development, assess how complementarities and synergies are reflected in the IFAD’s new country strategy, and identify any gaps and emerging issues for further consideration.
During the meeting NCIP Chairperson highlighted the IFAD and NCIP Partnership has yet to bond, blend and be sustained. Thus, there is a need to identify achievable and specific actions, coupled with political will, to accelerate shared goal of fully and truly institutionalizing the IFAD – NCIP Partnership – in deed and indeed.
IFAD’s Regional Director for Asia and Pacific Region (APR), Ms. Reehana Raza, conveyed that the partnership between NCIP and IFAP be re-established.
Other IFAD delegates shared the CHARMP and ConVERGE Project, both IFAD-funded, and introduced VISTA Project and COSOP 2023-2028 which will be implemented in CAR and Region 12.
As ways forward, the NCIP Central Office through the Foreign-Assisted Program and International Relations office (FAPIRO) shall coordinate with the IFAD for Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) especially on technical discussion in consolidation of 11 Building Blocks in the VISTA Project and COSOP. NCIP shall provide its inputs/comments on the IFAD’s COSOP 2023-2028 before the latter’s executive board meeting in September 2023.
