International Day of Peace
On the observance of the International Day of Peace, the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) express renewed commitment to the ideals of peace for national development.
Both the NAPC and the NCIP believe that addressing the root causes of poverty holds the key to ending conflict in the country.
The NAPC, under Secretary Lope Santos III’s administration, has empowered basic sectors by strengthening people’s participation through various regional and sectoral mechanisms in governance.
On the other hand, newly appointed NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Sibug-Las has committed to promote genuine protection of the interest and welfare of indigenous peoples by addressing their concerns on ancestral domains, cultures and traditions.
Together, the NAPC, NCIP, and the government and basic sectors will continue building bridges to unite communities and address poverty for peace and development toward a Bagong Pilipinas.
