KALAP MEETING WITH BIG BROTHERS AND PARTNER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES FOR STRONGER PUBLIC AND PRIVATE COLLABORATION
22 March 2023: The Big Brothers in the agriculture industry sector and the heads of relevant National Government Agencies gathered for a consultation dialogue and pre-implementation meeting of Kapatid Angat Lahat Agri Program (KALAP) which was launched in March 6, 2023 at Malacanang Palace.
The meeting focused on the discussion of the program processes and the identified priority commodity industries vis-a-vis the assigned company/big brother for each commodity. During the meeting, NCIP Chairperson Allen Capuyan shared with the Big Brothers the ICCs/IPs Crop Mapping, FPIC process and some concerns with the LGUs. A discussion on the potential risks or possible process and policy gaps that will affect the implementation of the program were also tackled, with which the crucial concerns will be elevated to the President as part of the agenda to the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) meeting in April.
The model conceptual framework with the government partners, and the formulation of the joint roadmap development between DA and KALAP are among the program processes that need to be carefully crafted prior to its implementation.
Mr. Joey Concepcion hosted the meeting, and Dr. William Dar moderated the discussion. The Big Brothers from Metro Pacific Agro Ventures, Yovel East, Nestle Philippines, Bounty Fresh, San Miguel Foundation, Central Azucarera De Tarlac, Universal Leaf, Lionheart Farms, and Kennemer Foods International graced the meeting. The NCIP was represented by its Chairperson, Mr. Allen Capuyan together with Acting Director of OSESSC, Ms. Glenda Alcantara Pua, and the NIA Administrator, Engr Eduardo “Eddie” G. Guillen participated in the meeting.
