NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY AND INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES – DR. RENE R. ESCALANTE

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY AND INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES
THEME: “The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge”
“Makasining na pagbati mula sa Pambansang Komisyon para sa Kultura at mga Sining! It is said that “Culture is the bedrock of nation-building.” This is evident through the solidarity of our cultural communities, and through multicultural diversities come development and progress of the nation.
I warmly congratulate the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) for a meaningful celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples Day and International Day of World’s
Indigenous Peoples bannering the theme “Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge.” This indeed truly reflects the treasures, beauty, and pride of our indigenous women in the wide spectrum of artisans, chanters, singers, ritualists and many other cultural masters of varied artistic forms.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is one in this meaning celebration to enhance public awareness and appreciation of our indigenous cultures and heritage. This moves us as a persuasive catalyst of our nation to sustain relentless efforts for the respect, development, protection, and fulfillment of the rights of our indigenous peoples and the continuance of their traditions. As the prime cultural government arm of the country, the NCCA is dedicated to preserve, develop, and promote Philippine arts and culture. Maraming salamat at Mabuhay po kayong lahat!”
