NCIP Inter-agency Visitation on 31 January 2022
During the NCIP Inter-agency Visitation on 31 January 2022 in the Sitio Kanawan, Barangay Binaritan, Morong, Bataan, Ancestral Domain No. RO3 -MOR-0618-224 of Ayta Magbukun covering the Barangays Binaritan, Nagbalayong, Mabayo and Sabang, Morong, Bataan, one of the Burning Issues raised by the community is that the Head Quarter of the Philippine Marines is established and operating within the Ancestral Domains (ADs). In response, the NCIP Chairperson directed its Regional Office to submit write up and or validation report on this matter to the Central Office thru the Office of Empowerment and Human Rights (OEHR) to be attached to its coordination letter for the AFP, Chief of Staff , the Chief Northern Luzon Command requesting for intervention as well as the Navy Admiral to call them for a dialogue and resolve this issue with the Ayta, Magbukon of Morong AD with the participation of the NCIP Regional and Provincial Offices and the Ancestral Domains Office and Legal Affairs Office.
On other matters where the government agencies such as the DENR, LRA and DAR to name a few, do not recognize and respect the rights of the ICCs/IPs in Morong Bataan, the NCIP Chairperson directed the OEHR to request the NTF – ELCAC IRM LOE for a meeting to determine ways forward regarding this rights violation and briefly discussed the 11 Building Blocks of a resilient, responsive and relevant ICCs/IPs and their ADs/ALs.
