NCIP PARTICIPATED AT THE WORLD BANK’s ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL FRAMEWORK (ESF) FOR PRACTITIONERS

On 03 | 23 | 2023, The NCIP participated at the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) for practitioners held at the Novotel Manila Araneta City.
The World Bank Environmental and Social Framework sets out the World Bank’s commitment to sustainable development, through a Bank Policy and a set of Environmental and Social Standards that are designed to support Borrowers’ projects, with the aim of ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity.
The environmental and social safeguards focal persons of the World Bank-assisted projects and senior technical staff from key oversight agencies gathered together for knowledge sharing exercise, in which Environmental and Social (E&S) practitioners in the public sector share their experience and learning from applying the ESF in World Bank-assisted government projects in the Philippines; Identification of vital areas of management support to enhance awareness, adoption, and cross-sector collaboration on environmental and social risk management among government agencies in the country; and Initiated the creation of a community of practice (COP) on environmental and social risk management in the public sector.
Representatives from the following Bureaus in the NCIP Central Office attended the learning event: Office on Socio-Economic Services and Special Concerns, Office on Policy, Plans, and Research, Office on Education, Culture and Health, and Foreign Assisted Programs and International Relations Office.
