The first Executive Committee Meeting for 2023 of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC)
The first Executive Committee Meeting for 2023 of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) took place on May 10, marking significant milestones in our collective effort.
From the original 89 guerrilla fronts, we’ve managed to dismantle 67, leaving only 22, with 20 of these already weakened. This success is attributed to our unity and the whole-of-government approach.
Through initiatives such as the E-CLIP and other support programs, former rebels are transforming into peaceful, productive citizens. We’ve also significantly curtailed the CPP-NPA-NDF’s extortion activities, fostering trust in our government.
Our Barangay Development Program (BDP) plays a pivotal role, motivating many CPP-NPA-NDF ex-members to surrender. By addressing the root causes of insurgency, we’re making a real difference.
In the meeting, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, called upon all government agencies to bolster the BDP’s limited budget. We’re also strengthening regional convergence through our Cabinet Officers for Regional Development and Security (CORDS).
The meeting also reiterated the shift of the NEW NTF ELCAC from being “warriors for peace” to “bringers of peace” to rally the nation to our shared ambition to end the local communist armed conflict and realize the vision of Ambisyon 2040 – a resilient, prosperous, and peaceful life for all Filipinos. United and determined, we believe this goal is well within our reach. #NTFELCAC #PeaceProgress
