Time for Domaget: IADDA goes to Dingalan
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region 3, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture (DA) Field Office 3, successful launched the pioneering 4Ks – IP CREATESS for the Domaget Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in Dingalan today. The activity was spearheaded by IP farmers, fisherfolks, and women from five barangays within the Domaget Ancestral Domain namely Dikapanikian, Caragsakan, Matawe, Ibona, and Umiray.
Community leaders present at the launching actively engaged in a whole day consultation-dialogue with officers of DA FO3 about the agency’s Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran para sa Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) project components, requirements and ways forward. For its part, NCIP facilitated the discussions and interphased its mandate using the framework of IP CREATESS IADDA.
The Dingalan Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) was also present at the event to further boost the 4Ks – IP CREATESS IADDA. Among MAO’s commitments include the (1) of prioritization of Domaget IPs in the use of the Dingalan Agriculture Incubation Hub, (2) establishment of IP trading post, (3) support for fish processing, and (4) support for organic farming.
The 4Ks – IP CREATESS IADDA is a direct response to the urgent socioeconomic needs of the Domaget ICCs/IPs in Dingalan who are currently formulating their Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP), and also currently undergoing the perimeter survey of their ancestral domain for their Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) application.
The same convergence program has been launched by the NCIP R3 and DA FO3 in pilot ICCs/IPs in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Tarlac. More ICCs/IPs will benefit as the project will also be launched in Nueva Ecija and Zambales this year.
